EDINBURGH, Ind. (AP) — Water rescue personnel are using sonar in their ongoing search for a 17-year-old boy who vanished in a dam’s swirling waters during a swimming outing that left two friends in critical condition.
Conservation Officer Jet Quillen says about 30 rescue personnel resumed searching for Jason Moran of Franklin about 8 a.m. Saturday. The search had been suspended Friday night.
Moran vanished about noon Friday after he and three other young men swam over a dam about 30 miles south of Indianapolis to try to rescue 16-year-old Sarah McLevish of Morgantown when she became trapped in roiling waters beneath the Edinburgh dam.
Two of the teens made it out safely. But McLevish and 16-year-old Michael Chadbourne were pulled from the waters and remain in critical condition at an Indianapolis hospital.
