Elks-YMCA Fitness Challenge, fun physical test for youth

CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – One Wabash Valley organization issued a challenge, a fitness challenge that is!

The Brazil Elk Lodge donated $2,000 to the Clay County YMCA. The money was used to create a fun physical test for Clay County youth.

It’s called the Elks-YMCA Fitness Challenge.

Kids from Kindergarten to 8th Grade participated in 13 trials that challenged their speed, strength, endurance and agility.

Organizers said it was all in an effort to promote healthy living.

“We really want to try to educate the children so that they know proper nutrition and the importance of staying active,” explained Tyler Fischer, chairman of Elks Fitness Challenge. “So we feel like if we can motivate these kids today they’ll continue on and then we’ll do this again next year and they’ll try to beat their results from this year.”

All of the kids who participated received a free t-shirt.
