A preliminary investigation showed a 2000 Chrysler Sebring driven by Keirsten Mikesell, 17 from Brazil, was northbound on CR 100 East and failed to yield the right of way.

Mikesell’s vehicle struck a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze driven by Beth Beasley, 48 of Brazil, and forced Beasley’s vehicle into a utility pole.

The crash caused live power lines to fall on her vehicle trapping her inside until Duke Energy workers could shut off the power.

Beasley was then extricated by members of the Posey and Jackson Township Fire/Rescue Departments.

Beasley was transported to Terre Haute Regional Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening arm injuries.

Mikesell was not injured, but was cited for failure to yield right of way.
