ISU Student Admits to Attempted Robbery

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – An Indiana State University student will be on home detention for his part in an attempted robbery on campus.

Martell Murphy pleaded guilty to criminal confinement and battery.

The incident happened in a parking lot back in early October.

A female student was surrounded by a group of four students who tried to take her purse.

Murphy was among the four.

He’ll spend one year on home detention and two years probation.

Murphy can serve his sentence in his home county of Porter County if he qualifies.
