Lawsuit against West Richland School District dismissed

RICHLAND COUNTY, Ill. (WTHI) – A lawsuit filed against the West Richland School District has been dismissed.

The suit was filed on behalf of citizens of West Richland in an effort to stop West Richland from annexing with East Richland.

The school district was hit hard by Illinois’ budget crunch on education.

This led West Richland officials to view annexation into East Richland as a viable solution. The Plaintiffs have decided not to appeal the judge’s ruling.

The annexation between East Richland and West Richland will take place on July 1.
