TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – The Daviess Community Hospital in Washington, Indiana is launching an effort to help veterans.

This initiative followed the federal announcement that the Veterans Affairs program is backlogged on care calls.

Officials from the Daviess Community Hospital said the facility will provide care to veterans in and around the service area.

In most cases, veterans have to travel to VA hospitals for care.

Hospital staff members are in the process of talking with the Washington Veterans of Foreign Wars chapter.
