Woman injured in late night crash

PIMENTO, Ind. (WTHI) – A Sullivan, Indiana woman is hospitalized after a late night crash.

It happened at around 11:00 Wednesday night on U.S. Highway 41, just south of Pimento.

The Vigo County Sheriff’s Department says the driver, Sueanne Purtlebaugh, lost control of her vehicle while she leaned over to pick up something in the vehicle.

Purtlebaugh inadvertently turned the wheel when she leaned over, then over-corrected.

That caused her to lose control, and the vehicle flipped over on its top.

The vehicle continued to travel south upside down on the roadway.

Purtlebaugh was flown by helicopter to an Indianapolis hospital with head and leg injuries.

Deputies do not believe she was wearing a seatbelt.
