Group forms picket line in Clay County for same sex marriage

BRAZIL, Ind. (WTHI) – Two Wabash Valley counties continue to refuse to prepare marriage licenses for same sex couples.

One of those counties is Daviess, the other is Clay.

Clay County is where we found a small picket line in support of gay marriage, and more specifically, Matt Radar and Tim Storms.

The Brazil couple says it’s their dream to get married in their home state.

When they went to apply Thursday, the clerk’s office refused to prepare a marriage certificate for them.

“They were going to start doing it as of the start of this morning…they were going to no longer do it, and they were going to wait on somebody that is on vacation, “Radar said.

County Clerk Vicki Wheeler says the person that is on vacation is the county attorney, Wheeler says she isn’t comfortable doing something without the county attorney’s approval. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
