New law to help IL voters

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WTHI) – A new law will streamline the voting process in Illinois.

Governor Pat Quinn signed a law on Tuesday that allows Illinois residents to register and vote the same day.

The law also extends to early voting.

County clerks are working out details on how they will offer Election Day registration.

The new law only applies to the November election, but could be extended.
