Kids attend police academy day camp

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – The Junior Police Academy Day Camp is one of the many day camps in the Wabash Valley that allows your kids to train like an actual police officer.

The camp originally started in 2000 as just a one-week camp with 30 kids. Now there are three separate weeks of camp with more than 500 kids participating!

The program is designed to get kids interacting in a positive way with police officers and to learn about what they do on a daily basis.

Campers are able to shoot paintball guns, see the SRT Team, watch the K-9 Unit and work with Crime Scene Investigators.

The activities the campers participate in are just like the training officers do to become part of the force.
