TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – An indoor firing range could be coming to Terre Haute’s south side.

Steve Ellis, Owner of Top Guns located on U.S. 41, is hoping to move his business into the former Furniture Gallery building.

Ellis plans to open a large 50 yard indoor shooting range in addition to expanding the gun shop, a project that could cost up to $6 million.

“It will be a business that will generate a lot of foot traffic and a lot of extra revenue for the community. The goal is hopefully we are going to be drawing people from as far away as maybe St. Louis, Chicago, Louisville, anything within about a three hour ride,” said Ellis.

An application to rezone the furniture store property is currently before the Area Plan Commission, which is scheduled to meet at 7 tonight in the Vigo County Annex. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
