Pet adoption event to help overcrowded shelter

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – There is no shortage of dogs and cats looking for a forever home.

News 10 recently brought you the story of overcrowding in animal shelters.

Today the community was able to help combat the issue, if just a little.

The Terre Haute Humane Society held an adoption event at the PetSmart on U.S. 41.

They had dogs, puppies, and kittens available.

For every adoption dozens more animals continue to flood shelters across the Wabash Valley.

Stray, abandoned, and owner-surrendered dogs continue to create overcrowding problems.

Volunteers said they are happy events like these are a success for the animals.
