TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Two arrests were made after the Terre Haute Police Department’s Special Response Team was called to the scene of 9th Street and Seabury Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.
Witnesses at the scene stated a man, who was later identified as Christopher Bays, had barricaded himself in a room of the house.
“The cops came over across the street and told us, ‘hey we got a little bit of a dangerous situation on our hands,’” described Thomas McDaniel, neighbor. “’So we’re gonna have to ask you to go inside your homes for a little bit.’”
The situation was resolved about a half hour later and two were taken into custody.
Brittany Garred was arrested for false informing and for resisting law enforcement. She appeared in Terre Haute City Court Thursday morning and pleaded guilty to both.
Garred was fined and also sentenced to six months probation for the charge of false informing. She was also sentenced to one year of probation and 60 hours of community service for the charge of resisting law enforcement.
Bays faces a preliminary charge of domestic battery and will appear in court on July 15.
