KNOX COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – One Dugger woman was injured in a Friday morning crash on State Road 59.

Indiana State Police responded to State Road 59 just north of State Road 67 for a single vehicle accident.

Officials report Thomas Cody, Jr., 31 of Dugger, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet car south on SR 59 when the vehicle left the road on the east side. The vehicle hit a culvert and then struck a tree head-on.

After an investigation, officials are reporting Cody was distracted when the accident occurred.

He was wearing a seat belt and was not injured. The passenger in the vehicle, Amanda Salesman, 30 of Dugger, was not wearing a seatbelt and had injuries to her head and chest.

“The use of a seat belt would have reduced or prevented Salesman’s injuries,” Master Trooper Wilson stated.

Salesman was taken to Greene County Hospital and is currently being treated for her injuries. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
