INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Major Davis Jr., the man accused of shooting and killing IMPD Officer Perry Renn, was released from the hospital and has been in police custody since Friday.

Davis is charged with murder. He was being held without bond

The court has scheduled an initial hearing for Davis Tuesday morning.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Davis had an AK-47 style weapon and officers on the scene said Davis refused to show his hands. When he did, they say he began firing at officers, who returned fire. The autopsy revealed that Renn was struck by three rounds. One hit him under the right armpit, striking his right lung and heart. He was also shot through his vest and his leg.

The court document goes on to say Davis’ mother purchased the gun for him.
