PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A three car accident on Monday evening in Putnam County leaves two people injured.

It happened just before 5:00 on US 231 and County Road 700 South.

Police say a car being driven by 41-year-old Carrieanne Phegley from Paris, Illinois was driving west on CR. 700.

As Phegley turned left onto US 231, she pulled into the path of a tractor trailer being driven by 28-year-old Richard Yates from Missouri.

The crash forced Phegley into northbound lanes where she was hit by a second tractor trailer being driven by 54-year-old Wayne Mossman, also from Missouri.

Phegley was taken to Putnam County Hospital for non life threatening injuries. Yates said he had head pain but refused treatment.

Officials say traffic was heavy in the area because of a crash on I-70 that left one person dead. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
