VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) – Vincennes fire crews spent part of their morning containing a high pressure gas leak.

The leak happened next to Vincennes University’s Physical Plant at 2nd and Red Skelton around 9:30 a.m.

The leak forced officials to close roads within a one block radius every direction.

Vectren crews are still working to repair the damaged line. Officials re-opened Second Street for traffic just before noon.

Officials are saying construction work could have been the cause of the gas leak. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
