Coke & Carbon cleanup 95 percent complete

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – City Engineering says the cleanup of the former coke and carbon site is 95 percent complete.

There are two hurdles left for this project.

First, the contractor has a short “to-do” list from the consultant on work that still needs completed. An environmental consultant is revising a remediation report that will be given to the Indiana Brownfield Department.

Once that report is accepted, and once the projects are completed, the Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation has agreed to market the site for development. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
