12-Points Hotel still on the auction block

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A historic Terre Haute hotel set to be sold won’t have a new owner, at least for now.

The owner of the 12-Points Hotel put his building and its contents on the auction block for Saturday.

Auctioneers took people through the building to sell items from inside, and the building itself, but the owner did not accept any offers.

The landlord stated the building has a lot of potential, but he’s just looking to get out of business.

“There’s a limited interest when it comes to historic buildings,” explained Jay Jones, owner. “It’s a lot of work and you’ve got to have some money.”

Jones also said there are many rumors surrounding the building including two murders and that the infamous criminal John Dillinger stayed at the hotel back in the day.
