Long lines for long awaited Rainbow Beach Aquatic Center

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) – Saturday marked a historic milestone in Vincennes: The city’s brand new $3.5 Million Rainbow Beach Family Aquatic Center opened for business.

Families lined up about the length of a football field to have first dibs at this facility.

And even though afternoon temperatures stayed cool that didn’t stop kids and parents too from diving in.

A lot of hard work went into the Rainbow Beach Family Aquatic Center.

“We’ve high lighted the efforts of the Vincennes City Parks Department and the construction crews that made this pool come to life,” described Vincennes Mayor, Joe Yochum. “But it’s the smiles on these faces that tell the real story.”

The city held a ribbon cutting Saturday to usher in the new era.

Yochum knows this pool opened late but, like he’s said all along, it’s worth the wait.

Since this pool opened later than scheduled, city leaders plan to keep it open later than scheduled.

It will stay open even after school starts.
