Six people injured in I-70 crash

PUTNAM COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A vehicle malfunction results in an accident on I-70.

On Tuesday afternoon, just after 3:00 emergency crews responded to a rollover crash on I-70 near the 41 mile marker.

According to officials, 34-year-old Candelario Ojeda Jr. was towing a pick-up truck.

The right front wheel of the pick-up truck broke free, and separated from truck causing Ojeda to lose control.

The pick-up truck Ojeda was driver rolled over three times. There were six passengers in the truck.

One of the passengers was thrown from the truck.

The driver and all of the passengers, three adults and three children, were transported to the hospital with various injuries.

Police say there was somewhat of a language barrier, but they believe Ojeda is the kids parents.

Westbound I-70 traffic was diverted northbound onto US 231, then westbound to US 40 for about an hour and a half.
