TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Back to school means back to school shopping. School supply lists can be found in local stores already.

The aisles are set up and prices have been slashed.

News 10 decided to go shopping to see what it would cost to send the average student back to school.

Terre Haute Walmart South store manager Jessica Phillips knows that school supplies can cost a lot.

“I have three children so I personally know how much it can cost to send your kids back to school,” Phillips said. “We have lots of items we put on sale at the beginning of the season to try to bring extra traffic in and then save mom and dads extra money.”

Our crew grabbed a supply list and took to the aisles to get the items off the list.

After all the items were scanned through the register, the total was just under $60.

Phillips knows that time is limited, and that shopping is all about convenience.

“Any time you bring in an exact item, an ad, or an advertised price, we’ll match that price if any competitors in town can be cheaper than us,” Phillips said.
