The Sound of Music to ring through church halls

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – If you’re one of many people who love the musical ‘The Sound of Music,’ you’re just a ticket away from a treat.

Maple Avenue United Methodist Church is staging ‘The Sound of Music’ for audiences, and it opens Friday night.

Costumes, hair, makeup, lighting and of course music all play a role in making the production happen.

The show’s director says it benefits programs the church supports.

“We have HIV and AIDS support groups here, after school programs, we bus students from Quabache Elementary School here for tutoring and open gym programs. It helps pay for all the things the church does,” Music Director Dan Rodriguez said.

The group will do six performances over the next two weekends. Two of those shows include dinner.
