Illinois man behind bars after attempted robbery

VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – An Illinois man is in jail and the Vermillion County Sherriff’s Office has its citizens to thank.

Police responded to a call about a fight at the Pilot Travel Plaza in Covington around 12:30 yesterday afternoon.

Police learned there had been a robbery in the Pilot and that several citizens chased the suspect out the store.

Officials found Bradley Allison, 24, held down by several people. Reports say Allison had followed a woman into the bathroom, displayed a knife and took off with her purse.

The woman began screaming and that’s when Allison was chased out of the building.

Officials discovered the vehicle Allison was driving was stolen out of Danville, Illinois earlier Thursday morning. He also had two stolen credit cards.

Allison was arrested for armed robbery with a deadly weapon and possession of stolen property. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
