LINTON, Ind. (WTHI) – The city of Linton is working to help promote what the area has to offer.

Linton has four state parks that they want people to rediscover and take advantage of. People came from all over to take part in the activities of the day.

Activities included kayaking bird watching, dirt biking and much more. This is the first event of its kind and the mayor is happy with the turnout.

”What we’re trying to do is build the community and build the area. We’re trying to promote the assets that we have,” described Linton Mayor, John Wilkes. “And this will draw people into town and it’ll help our economy, and it’ll also give the people something to do in the area with all the nature and everything that we have.”

The mayor says that with all of the parks they have in the area, there are approximately 80 different activities that you can take part in. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
