More information released in 8 vehicle parking lot accident

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – More information has been released in an eight vehicle accident on Monday that ended with one person airlifted.

Just after 11 a.m., officers responded to the parking lot of Baesler’s Market for a multiple car accident. Witnesses stated Margie Gauer, 85, had driven her Red Dodge Caravan out of the pharmacy drive-thru and struck several parked vehicles.

During the collision Joyce Athey, 80, was pinned between two vehicles.

Gauer told officers she had placed her vehicle in neutral while in the drive-thru and later moved it into drive when the collision occurred.

Athey was initially taken to Union Hospital in Terre Haute for treatment and News 10 was informed she was later airlifted to Indianapolis for further treatment. Her condition is not known at this time.
