SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A man who lives in a Shelbyville home that was searched by police officers on Tuesday as part of an ongoing investigation into a woman’s disappearance has been arrested.
Police say 46-year-old Scott Wayne Schuck is facing a voluntary manslaughter charge. The Shelbyville Police Department obtained a search warrant for Schuck’s property and home in the 1200 block of Elm Street and discovered what they believe to be human remains.
Police say their investigation is into the disappearance of Rebecca Cassidy who went missing four years ago and was last seen leaving the 1200 block of Elm Street.
Schuck is Cassidy’s ex-boyfriend. 24-Hour News 8 spoke with him on Tuesday and he said all he’s done is cooperate with police.
“She went missing and during that time, I became the number one suspect,” Schuck said. “I have gave them permission; they have been through my house with cadaver dogs about four years ago shortly after she went missing and in my back yard and everything.”
Schuck waited outside and watched as his neighbors looked on Tuesday. He said police were wasting their time.
“They ain’t going to find nothing. No, they ain’t going to find nothing,” Schuck said.
Schuck is scheduled to appear before a judge on Thursday. Police say the investigation is ongoing and asks that anyone with additional information call the Shelbyville Police Department at 317-392-5108.
