Missing elderly man found safe in Anderson


INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — George Smith, who had been missing since Thursday afternoon, was found safe in Anderson.

Dispatchers with IMPD say Smith was found overnight, but did not say how he made his way to Madison County.

A spokeperson with IMPD says Smith is safe and has been reunited with family.

Police are searching for an elderly man who went missing while taking his dog for a walk Thursday afternoon.

George Smith, 83, was last seen wearing a maroon shirt and jeans. Smith was walking his dog around Robin Run Village, an assisted living facility, around 3 p.m. Police said he was last seen at the Liberty Creek subdivision clubhouse.

It is also believed that Smith is suffering from the early stages of dementia.

Robin Run Village is located at 5354 W 62nd Street. Police have now expanded their search to north of 71st Street and south of 38th Street.

Smith is 5’8″ and weighs about 150 pounds. He is bald with white hair on the sides of his head and has blue eyes. Smith also wears glasses.

Police said if you see Smith, call 911 immediately.
