TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – South 7th Street between Wabash and Ohio Streets will close on Monday to repair a sinkhole caused by a damaged sewage pipe.

The repairs will occur midblock at the alley entrance and will require the street to close to vehicle traffic.

Impact to area businesses will be minimal as they will be accessible to pedestrian traffic and only the parking spaces on that block will be unavailable during the repairs.

The area being repaired has significant amounts of other utilities requiring a lengthier than usual repair time. The street is expected to reopen within two weeks.

Variances in the schedule may occur due to unforeseen conditions or bad weather. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
