TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – It’s almost that time of year again – school will soon be back in session.

The Cellular Connections in Terre Haute is doing what it can to help students in need. On Saturday afternoon pre-school and elementary students were able to receive a new backpack each filled with school supplies.

More than 500 students across the Wabash Valley are now better prepared for their first day of school thanks to this backpack giveaway.

The store was also able to give away a scholarship to one lucky student.

“We want to help the underprivileged and make sure they do have everything to get them started at the beginning of the school year,” said Tabetha Flanders, Manager at The Cellular Connections. “We know that a lot of parents can’t afford it, and times are tough these days. It’s just something to help give back.”

The Cellular Connections has been able to give away more than 100,000 backpacks across the country.
