TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – A new development in a case we have been following since last year.

Matthew Cook has pleaded guilty to murder and burglary in connection to the death of Shirley Moyer.

Moyer was found dead last October in her home at Gaslight Estates. Officials report Cook, who lived a few door down from her, has admitted to killing her.

This plea deal will call for him to serve 45 years on the murder charge and 10 additional years for the burglary charge. He will serve a total of 55 years in prison.

Sentencing has been set for Sept. 2.
