VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) – As students in the Vincennes Community school district head back for classes Thursday, the district wants students, parents, faculty and staff aware of campus entry and exit points changing at Vincennes Lincoln High School.
The changes will be effective for the start of school Thursday. Students should enter parking areas via Bauer Drive from Hart of Main Street between the hours of 7 and 8:15 a.m.
School administrators say the efforts should help curb congestion and crashes around student arrival and dismissal times. Vincennes Community School Superintendent Greg Parsley explained the changes to News 10 Wednesday.
“It seems like every year we have a fender bender in the parking lot,” said Parsley. In a new plan, traffic will be diverted from the school’s busiest areas, like in front of the main entrance to Lincoln.”You know them mornings and the afternoons at dismissal become high times, or at least high priority times with traffic out here, he’s trying to alleviate some of that and we’ll see what happens.”
Parsley explained the first few days of the new traffic pattern would be a transition, but after people started to get the hang of it, things would run smoothly.
“It will probably be a little interesting [Thursday], as with all things that are new, it take some time for folks to kind of become acclimated or accustomed,” said Parsley.
