INDIANA (WTHI) – With the summer coming to a close officials state blood donations tend to slow down. Once again the Indiana Blood Center is asking for your help!
The Indiana Blood Center reports they were unable to fill a few hospital orders this week because of a lower amount of blood donations.
“Until people are really settled into school, we will continue to see that decrease in donations,” Lucy Wehking, corporate communication specialist, stated. “We are expecting, unfortunately, to see it decrease through mid-August.”
Wehking also explained one-third of the center’s mobile donations come from education-based drives so by this time there usually is a dip in supply.
While donations are not at a critically low level, there is still an urgent need for blood. To find a location and to schedule an appointment, visit their website.
