First ever ‘Golden Band-Aid Award’ presented

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – We have recently told you about a group going by the name T1DM, or Type One Diabetic Moms.

This group of mothers is fighting against diabetes since all of their children are living with Type 1 Diabetes.

On Friday they gave back to those in the health care professions by presenting the first Golden Band-Aid Award.

The award is for a deserving nurse or health care assistant in the school system. Michelle Willocks, a health assistant at Otter Creek Middle School, was the winner.

It was just one way the group hopes to honor those who take care of our children when parents cannot be there. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
