VPD makes arrest after suspect barricades inside apartment

VINCENNES, Ind. (WTHI) – Around 2 a.m. Vincennes Police Department responded to Autumn Ridge Apartments to a report of a male refusing to leave.

When officers arrived to Autumn Ridge Building, apartment 113, Nicholas Christenberg, 22 of Washington, was refusing to open the door. He had also barricaded himself, a victim and the victim’s two young children inside the apartment.

Officers attempted to kick the door open but had to resort to using a Ram.

Christenberg had then barricaded himself in the back bedroom of the apartment. The door was forced open and he was found hiding under the bed.

Officers placed him under arrest and took him to the Knox County Jail for domestic battery, strangulation, three counts of criminal confinement, resisting law enforcement and residential entry.

His bond is set at $50,000.
