INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — With football season quickly approaching, the Indianapolis Colts want to remind fans of the NFL safety policy that went into effect last year.

The Colts are reminding fans that in order to get into Lucas Oil Stadium, they must follow the NFL policy that limits the style and size of bags that can be brought inside.

Last year, the NFL Committee on Stadium Security put the measure in place to protect public safety and to make it easier for fans to get into sporting venues.

The following will be allowed into stadiums:

  • Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″
  • One-gallon clear plastic freezer bag (Ziploc bag or similar)
  • Small clutch bags or purses, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap, may be carried into the stadium along with one of the clear bag options.

Officials say an exception will be made for medically necessary items after inspection at the northwest and southeast corners of the stadium. They also say every member of a family can carry in approved bags.
