Chaca the Arson Dog now needs your help

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A dog who has served Vigo County well for more than eight years now needs your help.

Chaca, who has served as an Arson Detection dog as well as Search and Rescue, was diagnosed with cancer two months ago.

Her handler, Josh Sittler, told News 10 Chaca has been treated at Heritage Animal Hospital North and Purdue University.

A benefit will take place this Saturday at Yogi’s on State Road 63 with proceeds going towards Chaca’s care.

“It’s from 6 to 8:30 p.m. There’s a karaoke contest with a $5 entry fee,” explained Josh Sittler, Honey Creek Fire Department. “This is to help raise money currently for her treatment, travel expenses, anything, food, anything that we need to get for her.”

Any money not used towards Chaca’s care will set up a fund to help any K-9 of the Vigo County Search and Rescue team who gets sick or injured.
