SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WISH) – Four Notre Dame football players have been dismissed in connection with an internal investigation of academic fraud, according to reports from Fox Sports and Yahoo Sports.

The four players were identified by Fox Sports as cornerback KeiVarae Russell, wide receiver DaVaris Daniels, defensive end Ishaq Williams and linebacker Kendall Moore. Daniels is the team’s leading returning receiver after catching 49 passes for 745 yards and seven touchdowns in 2013. Russell and Williams were also both penciled in as starters for Notre Dame this season.

The players’ dismissals come one year after Notre Dame dismissed quarterback Everett Golson for academic violations.

The Irish are ranked 17th in the Coaches’ Preseason Poll and open the regular season August 30 at home against unranked Rice. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
