TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Wildcat Creek Winery was among dozens of Indiana breweries and wineries who participated in the Indiana State Fair Beer and Wine Exhibition.
Although it was the first year for the exhibition, Wildcat Creek Winery Owner Kathy Black said it was obvious fairgoers wanted a taste of what the industry has to offer.
“The crowd was huge,” said Black. “The longer the day went on, the bigger the crowd got.”
The exhibit allowed visitors to purchase beer and wine with limits, but Black said it didn’t stop vendors from showing off their best products.
“It was done with safety in mind, and also with fairness and equity to any winery or brewery that wanted to participate,” said Black.
Co-owner Rick Black said the exhibit allowed the industry to show its importance to Indiana agriculture.
“Our industry itself has the opportunity to participate, not as a vendor but as an exhibitor, where we should be as part of the agriculture,” said Rick Black.
Kathy Black said the experience also showcased what the Indiana wine industry had to offer while highlighting their best products.
“To be able to share that with such a huge crowd as the State Fair, it was just a remarkable experience,” said Kathy Black.
The winery owners said the experience will bring them back to the State Fair next year.
