DOC: Greene Co. Man admits to fondling toddler daughter, other sex crimes

BLOOMFIELD, Ind. (WTHI) – Charges were filed Monday against a Greene County man accused of several sex crime acts. A probable cause released to News 10 details Steven Kristler’s account of what led to his charges.

According to court documents, Kristler reached out to the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office while he was incarcerated in at the New Castle Correctional Facility.

Kristler faces 11 charges, with victims ranging in age from toddler to teenager.

  • Child Molesting, 8 Counts
  • Child Molesting; intercourse or deviate sex with a victim less than 14, 2 counts.
  • Sexual Misconduct with a minor.

The letter he sent, which was dated March of 2014, addressed Julie Criger, a Greene County Prosecutor’s office investigator. In each count, Kristler explains to officials the acts committed against children. According to court documents, Kristler fondled juvenile boys and girls; including family.

In April of 2013, court documents state, Kristler admitted fondling his biological daughter. The document continues, the child was born in March of 2012. A line in the probable cause reads: “Steven would have touched her from March 2012, through April of 2013.” The document also explained, Kristler admitted to fondling his half brother.

When asked why Kristler was disclosing information to investigators he explained: “I can’t sleep at night, have nightmares about it.”

Due to the pending investigation, Kristler is being held in the Greene County Jail without bond.
