Deceased driver identified from I-70 accident

VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – UPDATE 8/21: After family had been notified, officials have released the name of the driver killed in Wednesday’s accident on Interstate 70.

Vigo County Coroner Dr. Susan Amos has identified the driver as James T. Medley, 61 of Crawfordsville.

One person is dead after a crash on I-70.

It happened Wednesday evening just after 7:30 in the eastbound lanes, near the eight mile marker.

The eight mile marker is just east of the Terre Haute exit. The crash involved three semis.

Police say a man driving a semi failed to slow or stop in a construction zone.

That driver crashed into a semi being driven by 53-year-old Randy Staton from Muskogee, OK.

Staton’s semi was forced into the rear of a box trailer being driven by 46-year-old Anthony Dewrock from Kennett, MO.

The driver that failed to stop was pronounced dead on the scene.

The name of the man that died is not being released at this time but police believe he was not from the Terre Haute area.

Staton and Dewrock suffered minor injuries.
