False report caused Indiana State University Crime Alert

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – UPDATE 8/21: After a Campus Crime Alert and/or RAVE text message was sent out Wednesday night for a reported assault, Indiana State University Police have determined no assault occurred.

After an investigation, officials determined two men visiting campus engaged in an agreed upon fight at Lincoln Quad which resulted in one person injured and hospitalized.

Cody Norris, 18 of Indianapolis, has been charged with filing a false report and will appear in court next week.

Norris and the other man involved in the fight were guests of a student on campus.


Indiana State University has issued a crime alert.

Wednesday night, at around 9:00 ISU Police report there was a physical assault in the south portion of Lincoln Quad.

According to the victim, after a short conversation, he was assaulted by three to four people.

The victim suffered facial lacerations and bruising.

The suspects fled in an unknown direction.

The only description the victim was able to give was all of the suspects were African American males.
