CLAY COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – One juvenile was arrested early Thursday morning in connection to multiple burglaries, arson and residential entry in Clay County.

Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Clay City residence after a burglary was reported. When they arrived, they realized a burglary attempt was also made on a neighboring residence.

During their investigation on the burglaries, deputies were dispatched to two vehicle fires in the same area of the investigation. The burglaries and car fires were determined to be related.

While deputies were investigating the burglaries they found the suspect had plugged the sink drains and turned the facets on causing the residence to flood. This caused extensive damage to the house.

Investigators interviewed a juvenile suspect who admitted his involvement in all of the burglaries as well as the vehicle fires.

Items were recovered from the three burglaries. Officers determined two of the three burglaries happened while the homeowners were asleep inside the home.

The juvenile was arrested and preliminarily charged with burglary, arson, residential entry and criminal mischief. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
