SULLIVAN, Ind. (WTHI) – An off-duty Indiana State Excise officer’s quick response saved a man’s life.

It happened Thursday outside of the Newsstand on 6 S. Court Street in Sullivan.

Captain Patrick Fulford was speaking with a 66-year-old Sullivan man, when the man suddenly collapsed face first into the ground.

Fulford immediately began performing CPR on the man.

After a few minutes, an ambulance arrived and took over.

Before the ambulance arrived, the man had regained a pulse.

Crews transported the man to Regional Hospital, where he remains in intensive care.
