Downtown Block Party encourages community to shop local

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – Many activities are taking place in the Wabash Valley this weekend and the Downtown Block Party in Terre Haute is one of them.

It’s helping out downtown in a big way.

From music, to food, and vendors, there’s something to do for the whole family.

The one day event takes place on Wabash Avenue from Fourth to Ninth Street in downtown Terre Haute.

The Downtown Block Party draws hundreds of visitors to the area.

Vendors say the party is a good way to get to know those in community and get the word out about their products.

“The Downtown Block Party and other events are essential to our business, our small businesses, to make extra money. The people come out and have a good time, think ahead for Christmas. It gives us a little bit of extra money,” said Marsha Boes, Owner of Cherr-Ease Pitt Packs.

The block party runs from 1p.m. to midnight. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
