IMPD: 4 chickens killed, set on fire on east side

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Police and Animal Care and Control officers are investigating after they say someone killed four chickens and set them on fire.

Authorities were called to the 2300 block of Southeastern Avenue, near South Keystone Avenue, on the city’s east side.

The call came in shortly after 9 a.m. Monday. According to IMPD, a group of three to four chickens were burned in front of a vacant home off Keystone at the corner near Southeastern.

Police say some school kids were waiting for their bus in the area and saw a group of burnt animals.

Animal control officers are investigating. They say the chickens could have been dead before being burned, but they’re not sure. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
