UPDATE: Suspect in custody after Thursday morning vehicle pursuit, search in Sullivan County

VIGO COUNTY/SULLIVAN COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A vehicle pursuit with the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office ended with a crash on State Road 63 in Sullivan County.

The pursuit happened before 8 a.m. on State Road 63 starting in southern Vigo County and then crossed into Sullivan County.

Officials report the suspect vehicle reached speeds of more than 100 mph multiple times during the accident.

The pursuit ended in a crash on State Road 63 near County Road 1075 in Sullivan County – this is just south of Prairie Creek. Officials report the vehicle crashed into a utility pole and there are crews out there now working on it.

State Road 63 had to be shut down near CR 1075 for almost four hours.

Multiple agencies were involved in a foot pursuit including Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Vigo County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation Officers. Our crew at the scene reported they were using K-9’s as well as a drone to search a nearby field.

Just after 11 a.m. the Vigo County Sheriff’s Office reported the suspect was taken into custody after he was found in a barn located south of the crash site. Officials have identified the suspect as Vern Eversole and had to be treated for injuries he sustained in the crash.
