JASONVILLE, Ind. (WTHI) – The Jasonville Police Department just recently swore in their first female officer.

Annabelle Sutton is the Jasonville Police Department’s newest Reserve Police Officer after she completed the state mandated 40 hour pre-basic class.

This training consisted of class room time, physical tactics and firearms training.

“I’m really excited about the addition of Annabelle,” stated Jasonville Police Chief Jim Gadberry.  “We’ve had other female applicants and even one that began the process but dropped out several years ago. She knows she’s the first to make it this far and we’ve talked about what to expect moving forward. She adds diversity to our department and that’s what I’m happiest about. Sutton is the missing piece of the puzzle in making sure all kids, regardless of gender, know they can pursue the career of their dreams.”

She is now serving her probationary period training on the road.
