BRAZIL, Ind. (WTHI) – People flocked to Brazil on Saturday for a new festival!
It’s the first ever Route 40 Fest in Brazil.
Organizers say it’s a fundraising event for Brazil Main Street. Money raised will go toward projects in the city’s downtown area.
There was music, vendors and food, but organizers just wanted to create an event special to the town.
“We’re just down here trying to create community and bring a little bit of life back into a town that needs it and hope, that’s what we’re doing here today,” said Lee Lewis, Brazil Main Street President, “The mayor had an idea, he wanted to have a festival. Terre Haute was kind of an inspiration for us. We thought if they could do it, we can do it.”
Lee says she’s hopeful that the event will continue for years to come.
