Loogootee man arrested for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene after crashing into bus

DAVIESS COUNTY, Ind. (WTHI) – A man from Loogootee was arrested on Wednesday after police report he was impaired when he crashed into a charter bus.

The accident happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 1200 East and County Road 725 North. This was just north of West Boggs Lake in Daviess County.

Indiana State Police were informed that the driver of the Chevrolet Impala had left the scene after having help changing a flat tire. But, the bus driver was able to get the license plate information.

Troopers were able to locate the vehicle on County Road 1200 East near County Road 440 North. The driver of the vehicle was identified as David O’Brien, 51 of Loogootee.

O’Brien was treated at the scene for injuries he got in the crash and was then taken to Daviess County Hospital. His preliminary BAC test was .31 percent, almost four time the legal limit of .08 percent.

He was taken to the Daviess County Jail and faces charges of leaving the scene of an injury accident and operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
